About Me

Les Kletke
“If you dont know where your going you’ll end up someplace else” – Yogi Berra

Les Kletke is a book coach, freelance writer and speaker with an exceptional resumé. Les has coached people across the globe through the process of writing, and publishing their books. For past 10 years Les has also worked as a freelance writer, and has had work published in numerous newspapers, and magazines, while authoring six of his own books.

He has studied as a Nuffield Scholar in England and has a degree in Economics and a diploma in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba. He worked as an agronomist in Russia and studied in Canada, the U.S., Korea, Brazil, New Zealand, and most recently Mongolia and China. He is also a graduate of the Continental School of Auctioneering. Having worked and travelled around the globe, Les brings experience to his work like no other.

I have worked with more than 70 people on their books and each one brings it’s own challenges and highlights.

Tim Haigue, winner of the Amazing Race Canada was one of the highlights. He sold his story to a major publisher before we finished the project. The book was a Canadian best seller and has just been released in paper back (early 2020).

We are currently talking about his second book which will concentrate on his battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

I would like to chat with you about your book idea!

I am inquisitive, I have enjoyed asking questions all my life. I took what I thought would be a winter job in radio and stayed for 15 years because I loved it. The concept of being able to ask people questions that would normally get you punched in the nose and put the answer on the radio was very appealing.

That is where I spent my 10,000 hours asking questions. Malcolm Gladwell says it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill and I spend that long in radio.

This gave me the skillset to challenge you with engaging questions to get the most out of your writing.

People ask if a studied journalism?

I have a diploma in Agriculture, and a Degree in Economics from the University of Manitoba.

I was fortunate enough to win a Nuffield Scholarship and the Asia Pacific Journalist Award which allowed me to study internationally.

How did I become a book coach

I had written 7 or 8 of my own books when a friend suggested I become a ghost writer.

“With your experience you should write books for people” Warren Evans told me.

I did that for a dozen books and though people should have the enjoyment of writing their own story so I developed the ISRI system that allows me to coach them through the writing and yet they have the satisfaction of writing their own story.

Testimonials:

“We invited Les to our CFGB windup where he shared his experience in writing his book – Voice of Thunder. Les did not disappoint. We saw the passion Les had for his friend – Jim – who has become a very close friend. We heard stories about Les’s interviews in researching for the book, he read excerpts from it and used his unique way of keeping the audience’s complete attention. Our group learned about a man who had a vision for his people. They live only a couple of hours down the road from us yet few knew of the remarkable progress Jim had made for his community. In self government and financial independence. All who attended this evening came away learning something about Jim but more importantly being able to take some of the his insights with us and hopefully apply to our daily lives. Thanks Les for taking the time to share. An excellent presentation. “

– Art Enns, Canadian Food Grains Bank

“I found the presentation both entertaining and informative. You have a good way of catching the audience’s attention and keeping it. Your interspersed funny comments make people laugh and stay with you. Jim’s story was delivered well in a short period of time, starting with his childhood and up to today.”

– Karin Mueller on Les’ presentation on his book, Voice of Thunder, at the HOPE dinner in Arnaud, Manitoba
